Doctors & Staff

Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Sawyer Scott Eyecare Center the leading provider of vision care products and services in Senatobia.

Samuel Scott, O.D.

Dr. Samuel Scott is a new and not-so-new addition to the office. He graduated from The Southern College of Optometry in 2019 to become a licensed optometrist but has been in the office since he was a little boy where he would spend his days after school in the office with Dr. Sallye.

He was raised in Senatobia where he attended Magnolia Heights and then went on to graduate from Mississippi State University. No time was wasted as he was enrolled in SCO, one of the top optometry schools in the country, immediately after graduating from MSU.

Dr. Sam is comfortable practicing the full scope of optometry, but he really enjoys managing ocular diseases, which include but are not limited to diabetes, hypertension, glaucoma, dry eye, age-related macular degeneration, viral, and bacterial infections. He believes that constant daily study is important to keep up with the latest trends and newest technologies in eye care. Lately, his focus has been better understanding chronic dry eye, myopia control, and educating patients on their latest contact lens and spectacle lens options.

Dr. Sam married his wife Emily Scott right before heading off to Nashville in 2018 for his externship at Loden Vision Center in Nashville where he focused on glaucoma, anterior segment disease, and managing post-operative cataract, glaucoma, and refractive surgeries. They now have a home in Hernando and are the proud parents of 2 boys. Dr. Sam is a member of the Mississippi Legislative Committee, the Mississippi Optometric Association, and is part of the MOA’s Leadership Program Class. He attends church at the Senatobia Church of Christ and when not working enjoys reading, eating at new restaurants, and traveling.

Dr. Mabry married her husband, Elliott Mabry, in 2015 while attending optometry school. They have three beautiful children Rafe, Vivianne, and Cohen and live in Strayhorn, MS. When not working or chasing kids, Dr. Mabry enjoys reading and traveling.

Sallye S. Scott, O.D.

Dr. Sallye Sawyer Scott has practiced optometry for over 40 years. She specializes in diseases of the eye as well as routine eye care for all age groups. She comes from a long line of small business entrepreneurs. Her late grandfather, Dr. R.P. McCaa was the first dentist in Sardis, her other grandfather the late Roy Sawyer Sr. owned an auto dealership and later a Ford tractor dealership in Senatobia. Dr. Scott’s late father, Tom Sawyer Sr. also owned and operated a Ford tractor dealership in Sardis.

After graduating from North Panola High School, she attended Northwest Community College and the University of Mississippi. Dr. Scott earned her Bachelor of Science degree and in 1978 her Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern College of Optometry in Memphis.

An active member of the Mississippi Optometric Association, she has served two terms on the board of directors and continues to serve on many communities. She is also an active member of the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Scott has been blessed to travel on over 20 mission trips to places such as Russia, Honduras, Mexico, and Panama.
